Halloween at Disney!!!

Disneyland Resort - Mickey's Halloween Party

2016 Party Guide for Reference

2017 Party Guide

The 2017 dates for Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland are September 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, and October 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, and 31, 2017. The party runs from 6-11PM or 7-12AM depending on the evening.  Much like WDW, you can enter the park 3 hours prior to the official start of the party, however, your ticket is not good for the entire day, and you need a special party ticket to attend the party.  New for 2017: Your Halloween Party ticket will include admission to BOTH parks – Disneyland and California Adventure – up to 3 hours prior to party time.
Special party only activities include: trick or treat stations, Halloween Screams Fireworks, The Ride of the Headless Horseman, the Frightfully Fun Parade, Cadaver Dans, Villain photo ops, Pre-party in Toon Town to meet Mickey and Minnie and trick or treat, and more!
Halloween Time at Disneyland's standard offerings during the Halloween season in are superior to those in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The decorations are better, the entertainment is awesome, the seasonal snacks are more plentiful, and there are two attractions at Disneyland that receive Halloween overlays (Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion) versus zero at Walt Disney World.
Disney villains can be found throughout the park, as well. Jack Skellington and Sally can be found around the Haunted Mansion. Cruella de Vil, Dr. Facilier (from The Princess and the Frog), Maleficent, and the Evil Queen will often wander Main Street. Pumpkin decor is everywhere and pumpkin treats are plentiful in the parks and Downtown Disney!
New for 2017!Halloween overlays are planned for Cars Land, as Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters transforms into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. California Adventure will also be decorated for fall/Halloween starting in September, similar to Disneyland.
Additionally, Cars Land will receive an extensive Halloween overlay, as the citizens of Radiator Springs don their Halloween costumes and decorate their homes to celebrate “Haul-O-Ween.” From Fillmore’s Jack-Oil Lanterns and Flo’s Spider-Car to Witchy Miss Lizzie’s shop, Radiator Springs will become Radiator Screams.
On Buena Vista Street, new Halloween decor will be added that is inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas
There is even more Halloween fun expected for 2018, including a possible Halloween World of Color!

WDW Resort - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP)

2016 Party Guide for Reference

The 2017 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party dates at Walt Disney World will occur August 25 & 29, September 1, 7, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29, October 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27, 29 and 31, and November 1, 2017.

Tips:

1) Book early!  Prices vary and the lower priced dates are usually the least busy!

2) ARRIVE early!  They will allow you to enter the party as early as 4PM!  The start time is technically 7PM, which is when the entertainment begins, however, cast members will be there in costume and it will allow you for some extra ride time!  DO NOT go on many rides after 7PM, except for Haunted Mansion, because you want to be able to do all of the extra events that are part of your special ticket!

3) Budget accordingly!  If you have your heart set on going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, make it happen!  A good way to do this is to consider buying 1 less park day of tickets and do something else the morning of the party, for example buy a 4 day ticket and the Halloween tickets, and the day of the party go to a waterpark or Disney Springs, then attend the party from 4PM-close.  You still get almost a whole park day for less!

4) Finally, wear a costume (yes, even adults) and HAVE FUN!  This is one time that costumes are actually allowed at Disney!

5) Try and enjoy all of the entertainment and save trick or treating for LAST!  Otherwise, you will be in longggg lines.

Special character Meet & Greets - only available during the party!

Jack Skellington and Sally meet in Liberty Square starting at 5 p.m., so line up for them by 4:30 p.m.

The Seven Dwarfs typically start meeting prior to 6:30 p.m., so you could do the Jack & Sally meet & greet and immediately line up for the dwarfs. This will be your best strategy unless you want to wait until the end of the party.

Jack Sparrow will meet over by Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Halloween Daisy, Donald, and Minnie will be back in Fantasyland with shorter lines later in the evening.

Pooh and Friends will be at Pooh's Corner in costume!

The best time to meet Mickey is at the END of the party, after 11PM, at the Main Street Theater.

Boo to You Parade

There are 2 showings of the parade during the party, with the second usually being much less crowded.  If you start to find a spot approx 30 minutes before the start of the parade, you can usually find a good spot to watch.  This is rated one of the best parades that WDW does.  Main Street is the best location to watch the parade, over by the Frontier land side.

Hallowishes (Fireworks)

Watch from Casey's on Main Street so that you can see the Castle projections!  Only one showing per night.

Hocus Pocus Villains Spectacular

This is a show hosted by the mischievous Sanderson Sisters from Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” who return to the mortal world for one night during the Halloween season. The three sisters decide to use their magic to throw the best, evil Halloween party this side of the graveyard, featuring Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie, Maleficent and other Disney villains, plus dancers, projections, and special effects. There are usually 3 showings per party night.

Last but not least... Fun Halloween themed foods, however, you can get most of these during a normal park day as well during the season.

People often ask me how we stay under budget when we travel to our Disney destination and how we get to go so often.  We go on vacation once a year, so it is really not THAT often, but I know it is more than some people are able to do.  I wanted to share some of my tips for you in this post, so that you can look for some creative ways to save money on your next Disney vacation (and maybe splurge on that character dining or extra magical experience!)   1) Prepare a budget up front.  YOU know what your family can afford.  YOU know what you want to spend.  No matter what your budget is, I can plan an awesome trip for you and your family/group!  There are really many options at all of the destinations and by booking as far out in advance as possible allows you more time to save up for your vacation! 2) Buy discounted Disney gift cards!  The best place that I have found is Target.  If you have a Target red credit or debit card, you can get Disney (or any gift card that they carry) fo
